![]() The oldest cover on both albums is 35 years old: "Maggie's Farm" on Renegades and "Since I Don't Have You" on The Spaghetti Incident?.īy the time this album was released, Zack de la Rocha had already left the band and this album had the opportunity to be the ashes of one of my favorite bands or the phoenix-either way, the fifteen year old version of myself was skeptical at first and ultimately disappointed in this album. The Spaghetti Incident? cover choices have a median age of 17.67 years, many of them from roughly the same time period (a third of the album's originals are from 1978 alone). Renegades has a median age of 19.75 years in the songs they chose to cover, choosing newer songs and much older songs. I was interested to see the age of the songs covered relative to the album's release date and so I did the math and their medians are actually quite close. I've always thought that RATM's career arc and Guns N' Roses's career arc where weirdly similar, but nowhere are their careers more alike than their contractually obligated final covers album that are, similarly, not so great.īoth albums have 12 tracks ( The Spaghetti Incident? has the controversial - and pointless - hidden track and Renegades has two different bundles of bonus tracks depending on the version).
